If you’re not sure where to start when writing a blog post, or how to create a blog post that is engaging then this could be the blog post for you. Firstly, you need to start with the title. Of course this may sound obvious, but what I mean by this is that the blog post needs to start with a strong title. A title that captures the imagination, is interesting, is straightforward or quirky. Think about the titles that catch your eye when you’re scrolling through social media sites, or the headlines that catch your eye when you’re reading the newspaper. Why do they catch your eye and how can you create a blog title that catches the eye?

 

Secondly, the blog post needs to be interesting. You may find your most recent special offer excellent, but will it be an interesting blog post for your target audience to read? Your blog posts need to be full of interesting, engaging and entertaining content. Make sure you tell the reader what they want to know as this will encourage them to come back to your blog time and time again.

 

Thirdly, you want to make the blog post easy to read, this can include sub titles, shorter paragraphs or bullet points. If it is a long topic or an in-depth subject consider having more than one blog post as there is often nothing more off putting than a blog post that looks like it never ends. Think about the reader and if your blog post is scannable and easy to read.

 

Fourthly, you want to embed keywords into your content. If you are talking about a certain keyword or topic then put a link from the keyword to a page on your website that goes into more details about the keyword and the service you provide or the product you sell. This will encourage more organic traffic through your website and more clicks can often result in more sales for your business.

 

Finally, try and include a strong call to action. This is where you motivate customers to do something else. For example to visit another blog post, the product page of the product you have been talking about in the blog or to sign up for your newsletter.
