we raised over £125 for macmillan cancer support

On Friday 30th September we ran a Macmillan Coffee Afternoon, we had some people make some delicious cakes, while others faked some delicious cakes – but it was all in aid of an excellent cause and we are thrilled to announce that we raised over £125 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event was held at Norman Cross Art Gallery, having been organised by ourselves, Rhetonic and Norman Cross Gallery. We had around 20 attendees to the event and two very kind businesses offered to donate some money to the charity through us even though they couldn’t attend on the day.

We ran a ‘How Many Spots on the Cake Competition’, each person paid £2 to have a guess and the winner won half the money raised through that competition. This was won by Mary of Norman Cross Gallery and she kindly gave her winnings back to the charity, instead of pocketing the cash herself, she was just 51 spots out, making her guess the closest.

There was also a vote, through cakes eaten, of the Best Baker and Ellen of Ellen Jackson Videography was thrilled to have won this award as her selection of chocolate cakes, with homemade green decorations (to fit with the theme), were the first to be eaten and most favourite cakes by far.

At the end of the event I quickly packed up all the cakes and whizzed them down to Angel Springs in time for their afternoon break, where the ‘left over’ cakes were then sold to workers there and we were pleased to be able to add to the amount we had raised by £25.

We are taking the collection pot to the Creative Networking Coffee Morning at the Marriott Hotel on Tuesday 4th October to see if we can fundraise anymore, and we are awaiting the donations from the kind business owners who have said they will donate too – so we will soon be able to have much more money raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.
