Lots of people ask this every Friday when they find their name on twitter next to #ff or #FF. What does #ff actually mean?

#FF or #ff means Follow Friday; it basically is a way of you recommending people to follow. So if someone has been extra helpful, is a good tweeter, writes good blog posts, knows what they are talking about or is just generally a nice person, then put #ff @theirname, for example (and feel free to copy and paste into your tweet) #ff @HazelLCottrell as she is an amazing Blog Writer along with being beautiful, helpful, funny and an all round great person… and modest!

Your followers would then see this tweet, maybe like what they read about this person and then follow them themselves. Of course if you see #ff and your name after it then this is a compliment to you, it means someone is recommending that their followers follow you – it’s nice to say Thanks for this. I always do, but then we know what I am like about manners!!!

However – #ffs is something completely different and is text speak slang meaning something very rude, so make sure you do not put the ‘s’ on the end of ‘ff’ 🙂 There are also various pages and versions and sites of #ff that will collect statistics for you on who should be your #ff, I personally think it’s nice to choose a #ff and give a reason for this, people are more likely to follow your recommendation if you give them a reason why you are recommending them.

So, what are you waiting for? Please copy and paste this into your tweet and you are now a #ff tweeter 🙂
