This is an article that I know a lot of people will be thrilled to see. There are a few different ways of approaching this subject but I don’t think me screaming “it’s blooming annoying not knowing who you are” is going to work, so I will put my feelings, in regards to the twitter profile, forwardin the following way instead;

Imagine you go to a networking event and when you get there you can see someone with a paper bag over their head. When you talk to them the paper bag never gets removed. You leave wondering what they have to hide, are they hideous looking, are they ashamed of the job they are doing, are they allowed to be out of prison? What is it that they are trying to hide under the paper bag?

Now picture the scene on Twitter – putting up your logo instead of your photo as a profile picture is like talking to a paper bag. You don’t know who the person is and it’s really hard to engage with them as they are just a logo.

Having your photo on Twitter works really well at networking events too; I have often been to networking events and people have recognised me when I walked in due to my photo on Twitter and other social media profiles.

If you are using social media to be social and engaging then it’s really important that you use your photo not a business image or logo for your twitter profile!
